![]() The hall also featured Mercury & Gemini capsules, an original Quarantine trailer from the Apollo era, and the actual Command Module from Apollo 16 as well as a moon-rock sample from Apollo 12. We got to see original Redstone rockets, a Space Shuttle mock-up, a Saturn I-B, the aforementioned Saturn V, as well as the main attraction of a details and torn-down Saturn V in the “Saturn V Hall”. When coming into Huntsville you’ll drive past the Space Center on I-565, and you can’t help but notice the full-scale Saturn V towering over the facility. The show was definitely kid friendly while also being entertaining for adults, but honestly my enjoyment was less about the specific content and more about the awesome visuals of the planetarium itself.īy far the highlight of this visit was the rockets themselves. We paid the extra fee to take-in a show at the on-site planetarium and it was well worth the extra cost. The highlights for me were getting to sit on a Moon Rover mock-up, and seeing some of the famous lithium hydroxide canisters featured in Apollo 13. The “When We Went to the Moon” exhibit featured a ton of history on the Space Race as a whole, and included at least one feature on each of the Apollo missions. We were waiting in line when the door opened at 9am, and quickly launched into touring the exhibits. Full disclosure I am a HUGE history buff, and space geek so this place was tailor made for me. My wife and I recently spent our Fall Break by heading down to Huntsville to check out the U.S.
